Bubble Curtains Roll Out Across Tasmanian Salmon Farms
Bubble Tubing® is excited to support Tassal as they roll out our bubble curtain technology across more than 160 salmon pens this summer. Following last year’s successful small-scale trial, which reduced jellyfish numbers inside pens by nearly 80%, this full-scale deployment represents a significant advancement for aquaculture in Tasmania.
Our bubble curtains create a continuous barrier of microbubbles around salmon farms, effectively deterring jellyfish while preserving the surrounding environment. The installations, spanning Okehampton Bay to the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, should be completed in time for the start of summer, marking a first of this scale in Oceania.
Here at Tassal we’re always looking for new and innovative ways to continually improve salmon health and the jellyfish bubble curtain is just one great example of that,
said Tim Stephens, Tassal’s general manager.
The use of our bubble curtains are making waves globally, with trials in Canada, Norway, Ireland and Scotland demonstrating its effectiveness in managing jellyfish around salmon farms. Read full article here.
